Group training classes
All the group obedience classes are based around  pet puppy , socialization classes.  In these classes our
main goal is to give the new owners well understood easy to follow rules and guide lines.  I like to train in
small groups, which gives the customer more one on one time and yet a level of distraction of being in a
class.  We work on the basic obedience commands and teach you how to read your dog. Dogs give us
behaviors all day long, and most owners aren't reading them. Dogs are also problem solvers they learn by
trail and error. In understanding this we have to allow the dog to be wrong so it can learn to be right.
My basic training classes do use food as a motivator,  but not a bribe as we discuss in class.   We use
positive games along with food and toys to encourage training and attention.. But all dogs have to learn
correction.  We all have to deal with stress in life so does the dogs.  We want your dog to become problem
solvers.
Basic training classes are 6wks long with all family members encouraged to attend.  Classes start in Febuary
and running through November.

Dogs that are in competition are best suited for private or semi -private classes.
Dogs who go into competition need individual attention. Each dog and each level of
training has its own rules and expectations.
These classes include:
  • proofing exercises
  • sequencing
  • motivators
  • distraction situations
  • problem solving
Some guide lines  in dog training:

  1. All dogs need to be train, know matter the size.
  2. Puppies should be started at 12 wks.
  3. You must have clear rules and expectations for the dog.
  4. Never give a command you can't control
  5. A dog is only as good as its owner.
  6. Wrong is wonderful.
My obedience history began as a 4-Her,and it didn't take long and  I started working for  kennels and
handlers. This opened the door of the canine world for me. I started giving classes when I was 15 in
my parents horse riding arena.  Going to seminars and taking private classes continued through most
of my 20's.
The breeds of dogs I've owned are many, once the neighborhood knows you have a knack for
training you wouldn't believe what you'll find at your doorstep.   Each breed teaching you something
new.  And that really is the reward of training dogs, it isn't what I teach  them, the reward is what their
teaching me.
My number one goal when teaching a new student Is to enjoy your time training. We get all bend out
of shape because the puppy's into everything and he won't listen. What I try to teach you is how the
dog thinks during different stages in the dogs development. That answers a lot of the behavior issues
you will face.  Now if you take the time to properly train and have adequate exercise and proper
nutrition you find Fido to be a great companion and life long friend.
I continue to train for the 4-H dog program for more than 20 yrs. I also continue to be a junior fair
judge.
I have won numerous titles in obedience, agility, breed, and field.  As well as national ranking in
obedience.  I won 3 times the German shorthair of Wis. Obedience dog of the year. Also many
honorary awards with the Winnegamie Dog club.
Training and field work
We also provide monthly training services.  Where we train the dog daily and the
owner comes weekly for lessons. This services work great for people that are
disabled or out of town frequently.
We also start gun dogs the same way.  We stress the importance of continuing
training when the dog goes home.
